South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has strongly denied UN allegations of ethnic cleansing in his country.
Members of the United Nations Commission for Human Rights have been travelling around South Sudan for 10 days. They say they’ve observed a steady process of ethnic cleansing — including massacres, forced starvation, gang rape and the destruction of villages. President Kirr is currently in South Africa. He’s expected to review bilateral ties with President Jacob Zuma.
South Africa’s Deputy President, meanwhile, has spoken out about the claims against Kiir.
