Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe’s daughter has been appointed to the country’s censorship board, state media reported Wednesday.

Home Affairs minister Ignatius Chombo announced on Wednesday that the president’s 27-year-old daughter, Bona Chikore, was part of the new 11-member board chaired by a former Cabinet minister, Africa Review reports.

The board also includes a police spokeswoman and on of Mugabe’s close friends, Roman Catholic Priest Fidelis Mukonori, the Herald reports.

One of Ms Chikore’s responsibilities will be to monitor social media, the minister said.

The board “faces the colossal task of regulating public entertainment in the digital age,” the state-owned Herald newspaper said.

The newspaper said the board would play “a critical role in controlling and regulating the media and film industry and examining any article or public entertainment submitted to it”.

Last year, the board ordered an edit of the popular movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, saying some of the scenes were too explicit.

The order forced most of the movie houses in Zimbabwe to stop showing the film as they felt that the edits had taken away most of the story.
