Premature baby weighing 400g at birth, finally fit to leave hospital
A Kenyan baby, Jeremy Tubula, born prematurely and weighing only 400 grams, was finally discharged on Wednesday after 5 months of incubation at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi
The baby was born on April 1, at just 24 weeks after his mother, Catherine Joy, developed pregnancy complications.
This compelled her doctor to put her on bed rest for two weeks.
Through the hospital’s official Twitter account, doctors said Jeremy’s progress was phenomenal.
Baby Jeremy was born at 25 weeks gestation with a birth weight of 400gms. He's been nurtured and managed by our doctors to for 5months to attain 3.5kgs. This is phenomenal for the country and the region @kamurie1 @ngigi_dr @MOH_Kenya
