Reports say the police officer resigned on his volition

A US police officer has resigned after a video emerged showing him pulling a gun on a group of unarmed black teenagers.

In a video – filmed on Friday in McKinney – Cpl Casebolt, who is white, is seen pinning 15-year-old Dajerria Becton to the ground with his knees.

The video received global media attention, with many condemning the officer’s actions as heavy handed and unnecessary.

Police said chaos began after a fight broke out between two women at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool.

A dozen police officers eventually responded where private security and home owners were pointing out  young people who were creating the disturbance, fighting and refusing to leave.”

Police Chief Greg Conley said a 14-year-old female was “temporarily detained” by one of the officers before she was released to her parents.

“Several concerns about the conduct of one of the officers at the scene have been raised,” he wrote on the Department’s Facebook page.

Brandon Brooks, who posted the video on YouTube, said police had started handcuffing and ordering people onto the ground for no reason.

“This kind of force is uncalled for, especially on children and innocent bystanders,” he wrote below the video.
