Photographer makes stunning photo series to fight back against breastfeeding-shamers

What do you think or feel when you see a mother breastfeed in public? It’s 2016 and people are still being knobs when it comes to breastfeeding.
Women are still being told to cover up by total strangers. It’s considered ‘inappropriate’ to feed your child in a public space. Nursing mothers don’t just have to deal with a baby that won’t latch or casual leakage – they’ll have to do all that while ignoring disapproving stares and sexual comments.

Singaporean photographer Photographer Jen Pan is tired of it. She has created a project dedicated to breastfeeding mums everywhere.

When women are still being told to cover up from total strangers and it’s considered “inappropriate” to feed one’s child in a public space.
“The Magical World of Breastfeeding” series was made after Jen heard stories of breastfeeding women facing criticism in the workplace. Jen featured a young working mom named Audra and her youngest son nursing in the middle of Singapore’s business district.
The works made online stir by raising awareness about workplace discrimination against breastfeeding moms. According to the photographer, “The main intention is to celebrate motherhood and at the same time create awareness for the mothers who face difficulties at workplace.”

Jen also added that she especially hopes that managers will take note of the message that points to the lack of access to clean, private places to pump.
