Over a dozen couples to exchange wedding vows on the iconic Robben Island in celebration of valentines
20 couples will get married on Robben Island, South Africa today to celebrate Valentine’s Day – the day of love.
The mass wedding is possible due to a 16-year-long partnership between the Robben Island Museum and the Home Affairs Department.
Robben Island is famous for having the prison that held Nobel Laureate and former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela for 18 years.
According to SABC, one of the couples will be renewing their wedding vows at the event after meeting on the island in the 1970s through an organized visit for political prisoners.
