United States of America outgoing President Barack Obama in his farewell speech in Chicago yesterday, declared faith in the American people to bring about change.
“I learned that change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engaged, and come together to demand it.” Said Obama
Obama, whose term ends at noon 20th January, recounted his eight years of leading America.
The leader urged Americans to overcome racism and advocate for equality, he said “Going forward, we must uphold laws against discrimination – in hiring, in housing, in education and the criminal justice system. That’s what our Constitution and highest ideals require. But laws alone won’t be enough. Hearts must change”
The first African American President on African-Americans and minorities to view with empathy “the middle-aged white man who from the outside may seem like he’s got all the advantages, but who’s seen his world upended by economic, cultural, and technological change.” While urging whites to regard the protests of minorities as a fight “not demanding special treatment, but the equal treatment our Founders promised.”
Mr Obama ended his leadership with an urgent and fearful warning about the state of American democracy. He reiterated his commitment to President-Elect Trump, on the smoothest possible; stressing that the peaceful transfer of power between presidents was a “hallmark” of American democracy.
Obama called for Americans to address the challenges of climate change, asking them to ‘save the planet’
According to Obama USA’s is global coalition against ISIL which has taken out the terrorist’ leaders, and about half their territory. “ISIL will be destroyed, and no one who threatens America will ever be safe. To all who serve, it has been the honor of my lifetime to be your Commander-in-Chief.”
In his closing remarks, Obama urged Americans to grant him ‘one final ask.. as your President’ for each individual to believe in their ability to bring about change.

According to reports at least 18,000 people attended the farewell address at McCormick Place, the largest convention centre in North America and millions viewed it live world Wide.
