A major new art exhibition is set to open in the Ghana’s capital Accra. The exhibition is called ‘Orderly Disorderly’ and it features work from more than 100 up-and-coming artists. CGTN has been given a sneak preview and met with one of the exhibition’s stars, Tracey Thompson.

“I’m a proud Ghanaian female artist who is featuring in Orderly Disorderly exhibition in Accra, Ghana,” Tracey told CGTN Africa.

“The kind of artworks that are here are going to be very vast. And it’s not just about artists. They’ll be a lot of collaboratives with the sciences as well. It’s not just art. So it’s going to be with video, photography, paintings – a whole lot!

“Any kind of form, probably [art] you could never imagine – it’s here!  This is where the whole city is going to be gathered to be in awe of the spectacle.”

There’s not much of an understanding into what is done at the exhibition in terms of fine arts. The main purpose of the event is to expose Ghanaians to a whole new way of thinking, and to bring people together to enjoy and appreciate art.

“We have a lot of international people, curators, gallery owners – a whole lot of people – coming in here to see the artwork. And that alone is bringing a lot of opportunities,” Tracey said.

“So the future is very much bright because we are keeping the spirit – especially that art community spirit here – and it’s a lot of fun.

“We keep doing new things, we keep discovering new things. It’s not going to get boring. It’s not like any other place in the world right now because we are totally standing out as very unique.”
