One dead, 500 left homeless by flood in Nigeria
One person has been killed and more than 100 houses destroyed after floods wreaked havoc in Nigeria’s northwestern state of Zamfara.
Officials said the floods have been caused by the recent heavy downpours that have hit the norsewtern part of the West African country.
The flood, which over-swept buildings across two communities in Gummi district of the state, also rendered more than 500 people homeless, Saidu Bawa, deputy district leader, told reporters.
According to the official, most victims of the disaster were women and children.
