Nigeria’s VP says running for presidency not “on the cards”

Nigeria’s vice president Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said he has not considered running for presidency in the 2019 election, and that he had no timeline on when he may make such a decision.
“None of that is on the cards,” he said.
Osinbajo, 60 years old, has been seen as a contender for the country’s top seat.
Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari has also not said whether he will contest the next vote. He has however been away from his country for a combined five months this year due to an undisclosed illness.
Some leaders in the West African country, including ministers, have called on Buhari not to seek another mandate.
During the president’s medical leave in London, Osinbajo was left in charge.
