
Nigeria’s Super Eagles soar higher than star-studded Argentina in Russia
Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday defeated a star-studded Argentine national team, 4-2, in a friendly match played in Krasnodar, Russia.
The Argentina team included Sergio Aguero, Javier Mascherano and Angel Di Maria in a game that the teams are using to prepare for the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Argentina drew first blood with the first two goals of the game with goals from Ever Banega in the 28th minute and Sergio Aguero moments after.
Nigeria’s Ihenacho scored a superb free-kick on 44 minutes of the first half to reduce the tally to 2-1.
Youngster Alex Iwobi brought scores level in the second half with the 52nd minute equalizer making it 2-2.
Newbie Brian Idowu made it 3-2 for Nigeria in the 54th minute of the game while Iwobi scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-2 and seal the victory for Nigeria.
