Nigeria’s Para-weightlifting team bags gold medals at #Commonwealth2018

The on-going commonwealth games on Wednesday revealed that disability is no barrier to achieving incredible things as Nigeria’s Para-powerlifting team bagged gold and silver medals for their nation leading up to celebrations in Nigeria capital of Abuja.
The team comprising of Roland Ezurukie, Esther Onyema, Ndidi Nwosu and Ibrahim Abdulazeez emerged heroes and heroines respectively accumulating four gold medals while Paul Kehinde and Lucy Kehinde settled for silver medals.
Also adding up to the floodgate of medals was in the lightweight region where Esther Onyema made a lift of 141.6kg to create a new world record.
Following their win, the now Para-powerlifting world record holders Onyema and Ezurukie are seeking audience with President Muhammad Buhari.
‘’Today, I have made sacrifices to make my country proud. I have won Gold and set a third world record. I will like to meet President Muhammad Buhari and I want him to make us proud too’’
The Nigerians went down 16-23 in first quarter; 12-17 in second quarter won the third quarter 18-6 and bowed 15-20 in the fourth quarter.
