Nigeria’s government to spend billions to avert further contraction

Nigeria’s economy is officially in a recession after recording double negative growth in succession and the country’s finance ministry says it will be spending billions of dollars to avert a further contraction in its troubled economy.

However, the latest IMF predictions paints a gloomy picture for the future of one of Africa’s economic giants after it predicted another 1.8% contraction at the end of the year.
