Nigerians hilarious reactions to Kenyan winning Lagos Marathon
Kenyan athlete Abraham Kipton won the inaugural edition of the Lagos City Marathon held on February 6, crossing the line in a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 20 seconds to bag the $50,000 prize money, and was followed closely by a second Kenyan, Hosea Kikpemboi.
Over 20,000 athletes from all across the continent graced the event, including 150 local and other world-class international runners.
Philip Sharubutu was the first Nigerian to cross the finish line at position seven.
In the women’s category, Halima Hussen of Ethiopia won in 2:38:36.
Mary Akor came in as the first Nigerian female to cross the finish line.
These results seemed to have triggered a wave of hilarious posts on social media by the Nigerians, who did not take the idea of a Kenyan winning a race in their country so easy, considering social media users from the two nations have often had arguments in the past.
Most Nigerians took to twitter to make jokes about the competition being unfair towards them, seeing as Kenyans were participating.
Here are some of those hilarious reactions on Twitter;
