Nigerian gov’t says it is steadfast in fight against Boko Haram militants

Nigeria’s government there says it is making every effort to find and bring home the 218 Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014.

However it added that there were others also kidnapped and that it did not mean to give the impression that some lives matter more than others. Over two million people have been displaced by the havoc wreacked by Boko Haram with over seventy thousand refugees having fled into neighbouring countries. Also put to task over the country’s human rights record Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama said they are working to ensure the safety of civilians.

This follows reports that the Nigerian army was detaining, torturing or killing civilians as it hunts  down the Boko Haram.
