Former Nigerian international footballer Sunday Oliseh is widely expected to be announced as the next coach of Nigeria soccer team, the super eagles.
Oliseh is expected to formally take over the vacant job of head coach of the “Super Eagles” letr on Wednesday, a position previously occupied by his former teammate Stephen Keshi.
Keshi’s appointment was terminated by the federation on July 4. Oliseh started his professional career as a defensive midfielder with Julius Berger FC of Lagos between 1989 and 1990.
Reports indicate that The Nigeria Football Federation is expected to announce the appointment of Oliseh, a former Nigerian midfielder to take over from Stephen Keshi, who was fired this month for breaching his contract by applying to manage the Cote D’ Ivoire side.
Oliseh won 63 cups for Nigeria and captained the Super Eagles during the 2000 African Nations Cup.
He is mainly remembered for scoring the winning goal against Spain in the France 1998 at the group stage, a footage that was extensively used by many television stations then.
He was also part of the Nigeria squad that won the 1994 African Nations Cup and the 1996 Gold winning Dream team in Atlanta.
The 40 year old Oliseh has been working as sport consultant and FIFA Technical committee member.
