Nigeria is open for business – VP Osinbajo declares

Nigerian vice president Yemi Osinbajo has declared his country open for business.

The 62-year-old made the declaration at a dinner in Abuja, organized by the Nigerian Embassy in France as part of activities for the ongoing three-day Nigeria-France Business and Investment Forum.

The vice president urged foreign investors to take advantage of the country’s enabling environment to launch businesses there.

“Nigeria is certainly open for business and we are prepared to work with all of our potential investors and many who are here already to make your business experience as seamless as possible,” Osinbajo said.

He assured the investors that the Nigerian government would assist foreign investors overcome any challenges that may arise in the course of their engagements in the country.

VP Osinbajo also took the opportunity to commend the Nigerian Ambassador to France, Modupe Irele, for organizing the event, saying it would o a long way in boosting the West African country’s economy.

Nigeria was ranked 146th in the Wold Bank’s report on ease of doing business worldwide.

The World Bank Doing Business report released in October 2018 ranked Mauritius as the continent’s best place to do business.

The report measures the ease of doing business along ten various parameters including paying taxes, starting a business, enforcing contracts, registering property and getting credit.

In his speech, VP Osinbajo promised his government’s support to foreigners seeking to establish investments in the country.

“We are prepared to work with you through all of the various regulatory issues that you may face,” he said.
