The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) through its President Amaju Pinnick have vowed to never employ a local coach again following the resignation of former player and head coach Sunday Oliseh on Friday.
Pinnick was answering questions at the 18th Annual Africa Business Conference of the Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts, United States and stated that the NFF had reached “the last bus stop” in appointing local coaches.
Oliseh replaced Stephen Keshi, who led the Super Eagles to winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and the second round of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
“After this Sunday Oliseh debacle, we have definitely turned the corner. We are now going to start shopping for a well-grounded and qualified foreign coach to tinker the team. Enough is enough,” Pinnick said at the event.
“What we have learnt is that there is a world of difference between being a good coach and being a good manager. We are shopping for a well-grounded coach.”
The NFF is now looking abroad to hire a new man, while Samson Siasia and Emmanuel Amuneke take charge of the team temporarily.
Meanwhile, Oliseh has threatened to drag the NFF to court over the N20million (R1.6 million) he was alleged to have received shortly before he resigned.
