NIGERIA DECIDES: Traders express expectations of new government

Africa’s most populous nation is set to vote for its next president on Saturday, an election that will see current leader Muhammadu Buhari seek a second and final mandate.

President Buhari will come up against 72 other candidates, though pollsters project his main challenge to come in the form of a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

More than 84 million Nigerians are registered to participate in the vote, in the country that has a population of more than 190 million people.

The West African country has struggled with some upheavals over the years, but its citizens are hopeful the leadership that takes over after the February 16 vote will tackle the challenges.

Among some of the challenges the country has faced include insecurity, poverty, frequent power blackouts, lack of employment among others.

CGTN Africa visited traders in Abuja to get their expectations of the new leadership, and here’s what they had to say;
