NIGERIA DECIDES: Insecurity mars preparations for Nigeria’s election

In the run up to Nigeria’s presidential election, the country has experienced security challenges, which saw the burning down of some Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) storage facilities.

The period also saw the killing of tens of people in the West African country, mainly in the northern region.

The incidents have caused fear among some Nigerians, prompting fears that some voters could opt not to participate in the election.

In an exclusive interview with CGTN Africa, an expert from the Roman Institute of Security Studies in Abuja, Dr. Amaechi Nwokolo, said the incidents may have been perpetrated by politicians that were not sure of a victory in the election.
