Burkina Faso and Nigeria’s national men’s under-20 football teams on Friday qualified for the semifinals of the 2019 African Games men’s football tournament.

Burkina Faso topped Group A following a 4-0 rout of South Africa at the Stade Municipal in El Mansouria while Nigeria drew 2-2 against hosts Morocco at the Sports Center of FAR in Salé to finish second. Nigeria’s result against Morocco eliminated the hosts from the tournament.

Burkina Faso will play the runner-up in Group B while Nigeria will face off against the winners of Group B.

Both matches will be played on August 27 at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat with Burkina Faso versus kicking off first.

Three teams are in contention for qualification from Group B: Mali, Senegal and Ghana. Mali leads the group with four points, the same as Senegal but boast a better goal difference. Ghana is third on three points.

Senegal plays Burundi, who are already eliminated, while Mali faces Ghana later on Saturday.

The winners of the semifinals will face off in the gold medal match at the Stade Moulay Hassan on August 30 while the bronze medal match will be played a day earlier at the Stade Municipal in Kenitra.
