Nigeria army moves operation base to Maiduguri to tackle insurgency

Read < 1 minute

Following Nigeria’s acting president Yemi Osinbajo’s order, Nigeria’s top military officials have moved their operation base from the country’s capital Abuja, to the northeastern city of Maiduguri in Borno State.

An advance team led by a two-star General arrived in the area with a brief to commence the establishment of a Military Command and Control Centre, MCCC, tagged operation Zaman Lafiya.

The move is meant to tackle a resurgent Boko Haram, which seems to have surprised Nigerian authorities by staging new deadly attacks.

As CGTN’s reports Sophia Adengo, experts are calling for new strategies and more efforts in stemming the jihadist group.
