The Niger Delta Avengers have declared a ceasefire over, and will take up arms again.

Militants in Nigeria’s Delta region have declared a current ceasefire over, and say they will take up arms again.

The Niger Delta Avengers militants group that operates in the oil rich region says it will resume hostilities.

The group claims President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has not lived up to the agreement stipulated between both parties, and are vowing to continue damaging oil facilities, until they’re satisfied with development and clean -up efforts by the government and foreign oil companies operating in the region.

Earlier this year the NDA claimed attacks on oil pipelines, causing a decline in oil production and worsening the financial crisis in the country.

Peace talks between government and militants leaders in recent months saw members of the armed group laying down their arms through a government amnesty program

Legislators representing the Niger Delta argue the cycle of extreme poverty and pollution can be broken by more involvement from the government and the foreign oil companies in the region.
