Read < 1 minute

The game of basketball in Africa enjoys significant popularity.

In Tanzania, about 30 local schools are now participating in an all new Junior NBA league.

The league, which was recently launched at the Jakaya M. Kikwete Youth Park in Dar es Salaam, started off on a high note with young male basketballers between the ages of 12 and 14, getting an opportunity to showcase their skills.

Divided into two conferences and six divisions, the top eight teams from each conference will qualify for the playoffs in October.
