Namibia donates medical aid to Angola
Namibia has donated medical supplies to help combat the Yellow Fever epidemic in Angola.
The country’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday handed over the donations to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation for shipment and handing over to the Health authorities in Angola.
The medical supplies included 100,000 units of disposable syringes, 10,000 units of paracetamol tablets for adults and 5,000 units of paracetamol syrup for children, all valued at an estimated $ 11,772.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International relations, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in her remarks delivered by Deputy Minister Maureen Hinda, said, Angola has sacrificed tremendously for the people of Namibia and it is only befitting that we remain an all-weather friend to the people of Angola.
“It is appropriate of Namibia to be among the first to give a helping hand when the people of Angola are faced with a crisis of this nature,” she added.
The Minister also said that an outbreak of the Yellow Fever poses a potential health crisis and should be contained immediately.
Meanwhile, earlier reports from World Health Organization officials suggested that the yellow fever epidemic has killed 158 people in Angola, with more than 50 deaths occurring last month alone.
