Guinea’s football star Naby Keita says he aspires to make his country renowned in world football.

The 24-year-old made the remarks just a few days before his side begins their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Egypt.

Keita expressed confidence that Guinea can perform well in the elite continental tournament.

“African football is full of surprises you can’t underestimate any team, we have three good teams with us and we have to do our best to go out of this group,” Goal.com quotes Keita.

“We are believing in our chances and abilities to perform well and show to the world that we can go far at the AFCON.”

The 32ndedition of the African competition will officially begin on Friday with a game pitting the host Egypt against Zimbabwe.

Keita will be participating in AFCON for his second time, and has his eyes set on showcasing his country’s football talents.

“Football in Guinea has improved a lot, like football across Africa, we are better now and have players in good clubs,” he said.

“The players and I who were in 2015 have more responsibility to help new players to adapt and give them our experience to perform well.”

“I hope I can make it, I can’t stop at my level now, I have to do my best with my club and the national team to make Guinea well known in the world with my teammates of course,” Keita continued.

“I always try to do my best in every game, in every training to take good steps in my career. I hope that I make people remember me and Guinea at the end of my career.”

Guinea is polled alongside Nigeria, Madagascar and Burundi in Group B.

The National Elephants will begin their campaign on Sunday against debutants Madagascar.
