Multiple bombs in Nigeria cause massive oil spill
Thousands of barrels of oils have spilled into waterways, farms and fishing grounds in Southern Bayelsa State in Nigeria, following multiple bombings of oil pipelines by militants.
According to fishermen in Nigeria the oil was flowing for two days without check. The Italian parent company ENI spokesman said at least 16 000 barrels of oil were lost per day. The company began repairs on Monday.
The locals say that the spill is “massive, the biggest in years” and blame the explosions that took place on Thursday and Friday on militant who want a bigger share of the oil revenues from the oil producing states.
Nigeria’s government said it lost 2.4 million dollars daily, last week amid similar attacks
