Mouthwatering clashes lined up as UEFA unveils Champions League fixtures
Five-time Champions League winners Bayern Munich may face fellow five-time winners Barcelona in the Quarter-Final stage of the 2019-20 tournament which will resume in early August.
UEFA unveiled the remaining fixtures of the continental club tournament on Friday, leaving football fans around the world excited by the potential fixtures.
Bayern Munich overcame Chelsea 3-0 in the first leg played at Stamford Bridge. The Germans have to play the second leg against the Londoners, a game which will decide who proceeds to the Quarter finals.
To proceed, Chelsea will have to beat Bayern by four goals without reply.
Manchester City will also host Real Madrid for the second leg of the Round of 16 stage. The Citizens beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg, and will only require a draw to proceed.
The other remaining Round of 16 matches include Barcelona vs Napoli and Juventus vs Lyon.
If Real Madrid qualifies at the expense of Manchester City and Juventus eliminates Lyon, Cristiano Ronaldo will have a chance to play against his former side for the first time since he left the Spanish giants in July 2018.
The Champions League has remained suspended since March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The second leg of last-16 ties yet to be completed will take place from 7-8 August and teams due to be at home for those matches will still play at their own stadium.
The quarter final stage onwards will be played in condensed single-leg fixtures that will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, either at Sporting’s Estadio Jose Alvalade or Benfica’s Estadio da Luz between August 12-23.
