Morocco will allow domestic flights to resume starting June 25 as the country continues its reopening following weeks of a COVID-19 shutdown.
The Moroccan government earlier on Monday said it would further looses lockdown measures to allow a resumption of domestic travel.
The North African country has reported 10,079 COVID-19 infections and 214 deaths, but like many countries affected by the pandemic, lockdown measures have hit its economy hard.
Other than air travel, the relaxation of restrictions will also allow a resumption of rail transport.
Cafes, restaurants, sports clubs and other services and entertainment businesses will also be able to resume activity at half capacity except in the provinces of Tangier, Larache, Marrakech and Kenitra, where infections remain higher, according to the government.
Mosques have been closed since the lockdown started on March 20 and the state of emergency was extended to July 10. Schools will only reopen in September.
The COVID-19 pandemic has infected more than 8.9 million people worldwide and killed over 468,000, according to data from the U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.
