Mohamed Salah sets new Premier League record

Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah on Saturday scored his 30 Premier League goals to become the first African player to reach that figure in a single season.

The 25-year-old netted in the 69th minute to help his team past Bournemouth with a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Senegalese Sadio Mane and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the other goals.

Before Saturday’s game, Salah was at par with Ivorian Didier Drogba on 29 goals by an African player. Drogba set the record in the 2009/10 season.

Slah also becomes the first Premier League player to score 40 goals and above across all competitions in a single season since Cristiano Ronaldo netted 42 times in the 2007/08 campaign.
