Mohamed Salah prefers Champions League over Golden Boot

Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah would prefer winning the Champions league over the Golden Boot or any individual awards.

The 25-year-old has had an incredible debut season with The Reds since joining from Italian side AS Roma in the summer.

“If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League. To win the Champions League is huge for everyone. I don’t care about the rest,” he said in an interview with Liverpool’s official website.

Salah has scored 40 goals for the Merseyside club in all competitions, also grabbing 11 assists in that period.

The Egyptian currently leads the race for the English Premier League Golden Boot with 30 goals so far, five ahead of second placed Harry Kane, and with four more games to play.

He scored two goals in Liverpool’s two-legged Champions League quarter final tie against Manchester City to ensure his side booked a slot in the semi-finals.

To clinch the Champions League, Salah will have to disappoint his former side Roma, whom he will face in the semis.

The two legged game will be played on 24 April and 2 May.

The winner of that tie will face the winner of the tie between defending champions Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The final of the tournament will be played on 26 May.
