Mohamed Salah links up with Egypt squad ahead of AFCON 2019

Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has finally joined The Pharaos for training ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Liverpool FC forward was given a longer rest period after his side’s exploits in the just ended season, which saw them lift a sixth Champions League title.

The 26-year-old joined the Egyptian team on Wednesday, one week after the team begun ioyts pre-AFCON preparations.

The Pharaohs are scheduled to play two friendly games before their AFCON campaign begins.

Salah will however not participate in the first friendly match against Tanzania on Thursday, though he is expected to get game time in the second game against Guinea.

Egypt are pooled alongside Zimbabwe, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The North Africans will begin their campaign against Zimbabwe on June 21.

Should they win the tournament, the Egyptians would extend their record to eight AFCON titles.

The elite continental competition is scheduled to end on 19 July.
