Military F-5 fighter aircraft crashes in SE Tunisia
A military F-5 fighter aircraft crashed on Tuesday in the region of Remada in Tataouine province in southeastern Tunisia, the Tunisian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The pilot was killed during the crash while there was no passengers on board the aircraft.
“The military aircraft was carrying out an operational mission on Tuesday morning in the desert of Remada,” the ministry said without providing further details.
“The causes of the crash remain, for the moment, unknown,” Major Mohamed Zakri, the official spokesman for the Tunisian Ministry of Defense, told Xinhua.
It is worth noting that Tunisian military aircrafts usually conduct operational missions in the area adjacent to the Libyan border as part of the protection of the country’s borders.
