Melama files graft case against Pravin Gordhan

South African opposition leader Julius Malema on Tuesday filed a criminal case against former finance minister Pravin Gordhan, just a day after the latter had filed a police case against him.
Malema is accusing Gordhan – now minister of public enterprises – of money laundering, corruption, racketeering and fraud.
Gordhan on Monday filed a case against Malema for allegedly inciting violence following comments he made last week.
Malema, the president of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Party, last week protested outside an ongoing corruption inquiry where Gordhan was giving evidence, allegedly accusing the minister of being “corrupt” and “a dog”.
Gordhan has denied any wrongdoing.
Malema said the EFF had given the police evidence on the alleged criminal activities, including details of a bank account in Canada where Gordhan allegedly asked individuals to deposit money.
“I said to the police, I have got a list of people who were told to put the money into the account,” Malema told EFF supporters outside a Pretoria police station.
“When we attack Pravin, we are launching an attack against corruption.”
Gordhan has however denied having any bank account in Canada.
