Mane says ready to help Salah hit even more goals
Liverpool’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mane says he’s determined to help record chasing Mohamed Salah score even more goals and hit new heights.
Mane made the remarks ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final first leg clash with Manchester City.
Salah is enjoying a dream debut season with the Kop, having signed from Italian side AS Roma in the summer.
The Egyptian currently has 37 goals in all competitions, including 29 in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old’s latest goal came against Crystal Palace on Saturday, equaling Didier Drogba’s record of most Premier League goals scored by an African in a season.
Salah is also well on course to smash Liverpool legend Ian Rush’s record of most goals by a Liverpool player. Rush bagged 40 goals in the 1986/87 season, and no player had broken that record to date.
Mane praised Salah’s contribution to the team, saying he was able to make the difference in big games.
“Mo can make the difference in tight games,” Mane said.
He’s a great player and he helps us to win games. He showed his quality. Everybody is happy to have Mo in the team.
“We are going to help him to score even more goals for us. We want to give him more assists.
After playing Manchester City tonight, Liverpool will face derby rivals Everton on Saturday, looking to continue piling the pressure on Manchester United who are ranked second with two points more than the Reds.
