Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both scored on the final day of the 2018/2019 English Premier League season to share the Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah.
Senegal’s Mane scored twice for Liverpool in a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers while Gabon’s Aubameyang scored twice for Arsenal in a 3-1 win against Burnley.
Egyptian forward Salah led the race for the boot heading into the final day but did not score a goal.
All three players ended the season with 22 goals each.
Salah (eight) ended the season with more assists than both Aubameyang (five) and Mane (one). However, unlike the World Cup where the Golden Boot is decided by the number of assists if the goal scorers finish level, the Premier League shares it between the players.
The golden boot has been shared previously by three players when Chris Sutton, Michael Owen and Dion Dublin shared it in 1997-98 and in 1998-99 Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink, Michael Owen and Dwight Yorke shared it. Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez also shared it in 2010/11
However, this is the first time the Golden Boot has been shared among players from Africa.
Salah, who won the award last season after scoring 32 goals in 38 games, is the sixth player to win the award in consecutive seasons.
