A mother of twins is in a life-threatening condition after sustaining serious stab wounds on her genitals.

According to an Elwak police officer who dealt with the case, the victim, Grace Kendi, was attacked by her husband, Peter Mureithi, on Sunday. The attack was thought to have been influenced by Mureithi’s accusations of Kendi’s infidelity.

“These two people have been living together as husband and wife but the marriage has been rocky due to what the husband said is the wife’s infidelity,” he said.

According to reports, Mureithi has already been arrested and will be arraigned in a court of law on Tuesday to face potential charges of assault and causing bodily harm.
Close friends of the couple revealed that the two engage in selling illicit brew.

“Mr Mureithi was fed up with the wife’s habit of entertaining men coming for their drink and we suspect it is the cause of their conflict,” said close friend Kennedy Kimani when talking to local media.

Grace Kendi has been referred to Nairobi for specialised treatment. Medical reports suggest that she has suffered a broken uterus.

A fundraising platform to help get Kendi to Nairobi’s Kenyatta National Hospital has already been started up.
