Crowds watched in horror and excitement in Kenya as a man clung to a chopper that had airlifted a controversial businessman Jacob Juma’s body for burial after he was assassinated in the country’s capital.

Footage shows the man, identified by local media as 41-year-old Saleh Wanjala, clinging to the skis as the helicopter appeared to take off, attempt to land, and then fly into the distance.

The man wanted a closer view of Mr Juma’s body during the burial in Kenya’s Bungoma region. The helicopter was lowered so that the man could jump off from a safe height but he ended injuring his hip, elbow and suffered a cut to the eyebrow.

“He is under police watch. He will be charged in court once he recuperates for endangering his life and that of the pilot,” said Bungoma County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim
