Mamelodi Sundowns knocked out Al Ahly from the CAF Champions League despite losing the second leg of their quarterfinal 1-0 at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
Sundowns advanced to the semifinals with a 5-1 aggregate win after emphatically winning the first leg 5-0 in Pretoria.
Al Ahly dominated the return leg but failed to claw back the significant deficit having left themselves with too much to do after the first leg.
Walid Azarou scored the only goal of the game on 68 minutes for the eight-time champions.
Sundowns, the champions in 2016, will face either Wydad Casablanca of Morocco or Horoya AC of Guinea in the semifinals.
