South African firebrand opposition leader Julius Malema has dismissed talk of a possible move to the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party.
The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) part made this clear in response to a tweet sent out by an anchor of local SABC, in which she said that President Cyril Ramaphosa and his deputy David Mabuza wanted Malema to return to the party.
Malema was expelled from the ruling party in February 2012 for what it termed “holding the ANC to ransom”.
Malema’s comments came following remarks by Mabuza that he would do his best to ensure the former ANC Youth League leader returned to the party.
Now a president of another party, Malema in his response said the ANC was dead and that he would never join it.

Malema has been a huge critic of the ANC leadership.
He often interrupted former president Jacob Zuma’s addresses in parliament, being of the opinion that he was never fit to lead.
South Africans will head to the polls in 2019 to elect new leaders. The ANC will be led into the vote by Cyril Ramaphosa, who replaced Jacob Zuma as president after the latter resigned on 14 February.
Some South Africans are already seeing the attempts to lure Malema into the ANC as a plot to strengthen it ahead of that poll.
