Malawi’s Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested former Malawi Defense Force, General Henry Odillo over corruption allegations.

Odillo and his deputy General Clement T.Kafuwa were arrested in relation to payments that were made to Thuso investments without supplying services to the Malawi Army.

In a statement by ACB senior public relation officer, the two would face three charges including abuse of public office, negligence by public officer in preserving money and money laundering.

The two are being detained as part of an on-going investigation into government corruption known as “cashgate”. They will be taken to court after ACB has recorded statements from them.
