President Macky Sall was sworn in for a second term in office on Tuesday in the nation’s capital, Dakar.
Several African heads of state and government attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Sall pledged to be the president of all Senegalese and reiterated his call for constructive, open and all-inclusive dialogue.
Sall also urged citizens to maintain the country’s tradition of being a peaceful, stable and inclusive country.
Sall won re-election with 58 percent of votes cast beating Idrissa Seck, who garnered 21 percent of the votes. Ousmane Sonko came third with 16 percent.
Sall is credited with leading Senegal into a period of strong economic growth on the back of construction of a new airport, motorways and an extension of the electricity grid.
