Long- term breastfeeding linked to high IQ

Read < 1 minute

A new research suggests that breastfeeding newborns for long helps enhance brain development.

The research that was done in Brazil traced almost 3,500 babies from all walks of life and found those who had breastfed for longer went on to score higher on IQ tests as adults.

According to the study, children that breast fed longer, ended up being smarter, more educated and wealthier in adulthood.

The study’s authors say the uptick in intelligence is likely tied to the presence of long-chain saturated fatty acids present in breast milk that are essential for brain development.
