
Line-up complete for CHAN2020 in Cameroon

The line-up of the 16 teams that will participate at the finals of the 2020 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) is complete following the second legs of the final qualifiers.
Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali and Tunisia all emerged victorious over the weekend to book their places at next year’s finals due to be held in Cameroon.
Burkina Faso bumped out West African giants Ghana following a 1-0 aggregate win after a 0-0 draw in Ouagadougou in the second leg. Ghana has now missed out on the last three editions of the tournament.
Guinea qualified at the expense of Senegal after a 3-1 victory on penalties after the match ended 1-1 on aggregate.
Niger lost 1-0 to Ivory Coast on the day but progressed 2-1 on aggregate to send another West African giant of football out of contention for qualifying.
Tunisia secured a 3-1 aggregate win against Libya after a 1-0 win in Morocco while Mali scored in either half to claim a 2-0 aggregate win over Mauritania.
Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo also qualified for the tournament following respective aggregate wins against Lesotho, Central African Republic and Equatorial Guinea.
The CHAN, first held in 2009, is a biennial tournament created exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues in Africa.
The most successful nation is the DR Congo which has won two titles, in 2009 and 2016.
Morocco is the defending champion having won the previous edition in 2018 on home soil.
