Libyan forces clear more ISIL hideouts in coastal city of Sirte
The campaign to free Libya’s city of Sirte from ISIL control continues.
Libyan forces have secured several government buildings that had been used by ISIL fighters. Intensified aerial attacks — with U.S. support — and a barrage of tank fire on the ground is slowly but surely dislodging the militants. ISIL nos controls only a residential area, less than one-kilometre long, in its former stronghold.
Pro-government forces are targeting the suburb of Manara, which used to be the militants’ main base outside territory controlled in Iraq and Syria.
