The UN-backed Libyan government on Wednesday extended a curfew for 10 days in its further efforts to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
The extension of the curfew running from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. local time starts Thursday, it said.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Libya stands at 99, including 40 recoveries and four deaths, according to the National Center for Disease Control.
Libyan nationals stranded abroad began to return and arrive in the country earlier this month after the Libyan authorities ordered the closure of all borders as a precautionary measure against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Other anti-virus measures include banning public gatherings and closing mosques and schools.
Libya’s east-based authorities have imposed a 12-day curfew in the eastern city of Benghazi.
