Liberia is targeting to have its domestic football season for 2020/2021 begin on October 24.

The Liberia Football Association made the announcement following a meeting of stakeholders in which participants agreed on the date factoring several internal and external possibilities.

LFA president Mustapha Raji said the registration period for teams is expected to open on August 3 till October 4 with more details to be announced later on.

The LFA cancelled the 2019/2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic with no champions being declared or any teams being relegated from the Liberian First Division.

At the time of the season’s cancellation, Mighty Barolle was leading the Liberian First Division with 23 points, one ahead of BEA Mountain and two ahead of third-placed MC Breweries.

This was not the first time Liberia had halted its football activities due to a crisis. In 2014, it suspended all football activities in an effort to control the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.
