Laver Cup 2019: Kevin Anderson to play for Team World

South African tennis player Kevin Anderson will play for Team World at the third edition of the Laver Cup set to be held at the Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, from September 20-22, 2019.
Anderson will line up alongside John Isner (United States), Denis Shapovalov and Milos Raonic (both of Canada) for the side captained by seven-time Grand Slam champion John McEnroe.
The Laver Cup is a three-day tournament pitting a team of six of the best tennis players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the world
The final two players on the six-man team will be named in the coming weeks as McEnroe monitors players’ results.
“It was an amazing experience to play the Laver Cup last year in Chicago, a place that is so special to me. This format brings out the best in everyone, and we came so close to winning on day three,” Anderson said.
Anderson, the 2018 Wimbledon finalist, said that Team World be aiming to win the cup this year after narrowly losing out to Team Europe in 2018.
In 2018, Anderson teamed up with American Jack Sock and defeated Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer in the doubles match. Anderson then claimed a big victory beating world number one Djokovic in their singles match.
Team Europe consists of current French Open champion Rafael Nadal, 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, two-time French Open finalist Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Fabio Fognini. Team Captain Björn Borg is set to name the final team member also in the coming weeks.
Team Europe has won the cup twice; first at the inaugural event in Prague in 2017 and then in Chicago in 2018.
