Kingdom of Benin crowns new monarch in age-old ceremony

In Nigeria, around 100,000 people have gathered to celebrate one of Africa’s oldest and most prestigious realms.

The Kingdom of Benin dates back to the 13th century and is famous for its vast wealth, sophisticated urban design and intricate bronzes.

And this week the kingdom crowned its new Oba, or king, Ewuare the second.
