King Mohammed VI in Rwanda as part of East African tour
Moroccan King Mohammed VI is in Rwanda for the first leg of his three state tour of Eastern Africa.
The Moroccan monarch is accompanied by a delegation of senior officials, including several ministers. Rwandan President Paul Kagame welcomed the monarch to Kigali. Kagame was in Morocco in June. That’s when he invited the king to his country. It’s expected Morocco will open an embassy in Kigali before the end of the year.
While economic ties and trade top the agenda, Morocco is also seeking to establish greater political influence in the region.
